Haha the tree is not about status, it's about morals. The apples on top aren't neccesarily proud and arrogant, they're just good people, nice girls that are modest and don't believe themselves to be everything which causes them to hold back so much. They're better than the rotting apples just because of their modesty. The whole point is that they are so good BECAUSE they aren't arrogant and slutty. It even says they have low self-esteem because guys don't tend to go for them no matter how great they are. It's not about a middle. It's saying that even though the girls that behave don't get every guy, their guy will come, even though some guys tend to go for the slutty girls.

And the girl isn't going to be eaten by the guy… it's about the guy reaching out for her, and whether or not he will go through the effort of getting the right and healthy one.
