Registering the BLUA domain was a nightmare — but renewing it was… errr, you decide. Here’s what I had to go through in order to renew it:

1. Last week, I went to Gulishan “One Stop” Center to know the renewal procedure, who referred me to “Data and Internet Services” department of Mogbazar BTTB office.
2. Called Mogbazar office today, and I learned that the only person who deals with the domain stuff is on leave. The lady who answered the phone advised me to call after half an hour.
3. I called again after half an hour, and this time some other guy picked up the phone and asked me to call another guy on another number. They probably don’t have an intercom system. Poor BTTB.
4. Called on the new number, but sadly, the guy I’m looking for wasn’t on his desk. I was told that he went upstairs. I was suggested to call after some time.
5. Called again after a while, and this time I was lucky. The guy I was looking for just returned for upstairs and informed me that Moghbazar office doesn’t deal with the domain renewal, and informed me to contact the contact Sher-E-Bangla Nagar office. He was also kind enough to give me the contact number of the person who is in charge of domain renewal.
6. Called up the guy in Sher-E-Bangla office, but he wasn’t available — he was out of office.
7. I waited till 12:00 and thought that I better goto Sher-E-Bangla Nagar office in person to find out whether if I can find some other way or not.
8. At 12:30 I entered the room where I’m supposed to get the documents to get the renewal process started. The guy who’s in charge (as referred by Moghbazar office) pointed me another table.
9. On that table, I told that I want renew my domain, and the lady wanted to see the “demand note” that I got when registering the domain. After showing it to her, she slowly opened her file cabinet and took out a file which had a pile of paper inside. As I peaked into the file, I found that it was actually the printouts of all the .bd whois records. She started scouring though the pages to find the entry for “linux.org.bd”. As the records were not sorted alphabetically or date-wise, she had to go through all the pages. At last, she couldn’t find my domain’s entry and asked the office assistant to help. The office assistant and I scoured through the pages, and after 10 minutes we finally found the entry. The file was given back to the lady, and she wrote down some stuffs on a ledger book and gave me a “To Be Payable” receipt.
10. Went downstairs to the bank booth, and paid the fee. Not much pain, the bank had their air conditioner on.
11. Had go to a nearby shop outside the office to photocopy the receipt that I got from bank.
12. Went to fourth floor again to give the copy of the receipt to the lady, who told that the renewal process is now partly complete. She notified that she’ll send the receipt to Moghbazar office, who’ll take care of the actual renewal process.
13. I got back home smoking Benson & Hedges Lights, and prayed to God to bless BTTB.

Pohela Boishakh, Happy Friday, and full moon — 3 reasons why today was really special. I did had plans for today, but it didn’t work out at last as I couldn’t manage a date. Mitu seemed too busy and Tahsin had her studies to finish. moreover, I had work too! I worked till 3 in the morning and than again from 11 to 4 in the evening and did it all while lying down on bed with my laptop on my lap! My whole body was aching and I finally gave up. I took a little nap, followed by a refreshing shower and went to Dhanmondi lake to meet Farhan and Jenny. The crowd all around Dhanmondi was just too outrageous — record number of people (mostly couples) were on the streets celebrating Poleha Boishakh. It seemed to me that everyone came to Dhanmondi instead of going to Dhaka University area!

I was little bit upset to see everyone enjoying with their special person and me walking all alone. Well, I can’t blame anyone, it’s my goddamn fault, it’s my goddamn lifestyle. I’m better off alone, I’m better off without being into a serious relationship. Flirting is my limit for now

Another 356 days, and I’m a year older.

Mitu sent the first greeting at midnight, followed by Oishi, Nishi, Adrita, Tahsin and Deep. Scarlet, Tanim and Ridhma cared enough call– thanks to all of them!

Adrita was supposed to meet me, but canceled it in the last hour… health problem. Anyhow, Tanim-the-Geat-Liar surprisingly kept his word and met me in the evening. We spent some quality time and drank beer!

Just in case you’re curious to know how old I’m now — I turned 23!

The year 2006 is finally here! As with all new years, it’s time for a new beginning, dawning of new hopes, and of an opening of a new horizon. Happy new year everyone, wishing you all peace, prosperity and happiness! Hope 2006 rocks you all!

I had a rocking time yesterday with Deep and his friends at Uttara, we blew firecrackers worth over a thousand bucks. All the cellular networks got jammed as usual and it was difficult to reach others. My ex sent me a SMS at 20:30 and got it at 23:30! Gush, I’m sure she thought I was ignoring her!

Ignoring the biting cold we stayed at the roof top till 1:00 and then we went to downstairs when 2 of the guys started spilling out naughty jokes for an hour… and gush, the jokes were hilarious! We went to “Sector 7” (which happens to be a pool club) at 2:00 and partied till 4:30 in the morning. Before going back to Deep’s place, one the guys and I went to grab a cup of tea at a nearby tea stall, which is really close to Uttara police station. Night life at some parts of the city is so different!

For me, 2005 was a happening year with lot of achievements. I hope 2006 would be even better! Here’s my not-so-secret plan for this year:

• Publish the Linux Magazine as planned
• Getting either a new tech job or starting a tech or media related business
• Organizing at least:
  • One ramp show (preferably international)
  • One model hunt program
  • Five workshops on Linux and FLOSS
  • One rally / procession to celebrate the spirit of FLOSS
  • Software Freedom Day 2006
• Writing up at least 15 Linux related articles for magazines and news papers
• Saving at least five hundred thousand tak
• Learning a foreign language
• Visiting at least two countries

I’ve always kept my goals high, but this time I’ve made the list simple and realistic. I love surprises, and for me, the joy of getting something unexpected is higher than what I would usually expect. So let’s see what 2006 brings for me! Let the ride begin! Amen!
