I’ve finally made the move — migrated this blog from Nuclues to WordPress.

The database migration went smooth (though I had to use some tricks), but I’ve now to fix the image URLs manually and also work on modifying the template. Over the next few days I guess, depending on when I’ve time in hand.

Adios to Nucleus, my faithful blog engine for 3½ years.

I finally finished working on my first “complete” Bengali site. Check it out and let me know what you guys think about it. I’m looking for criticisms, so please be honest and let me know the truth.

The site has been tested to work under Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva, OpenSUSE, and Windows, with Firefox, Konqueror, and IE.

Remote Include Vulnerability in Mambo

If you are Mambo user and using Galleria, SimpleBoard, or ExtCalender components, then be careful. A Remote Include Vulnerability has been discovered, and a lot of Mambo run sites using one of these components are being hacked and defaced. To save yourself from this epidemic, check for this line on top of all the PHP files on your component directories:

defined( ‘_VALID_MOS’ ) or die( ‘Direct Access to this location is not allowed.’ )

If it’s not there on every pages, then add it on the top. If available, it’s always the best option to update your modules and components to the latest stable version.

Remeberber: if apache.org or whitehouse.gov can get hacked, so can be yours. Be careful. Very careful. There’s nothing called security in this crazy world.

New Home of Ubuntu-BD

Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) was released today, making it the perfect day to announce the new home of Ubuntu Bangladesh.

I’ve been working on-and-off on the site for the last few days, tried MediaWiki, MoinMoin and TikiWiki, but finally decided to go for PHP-Nuke, which is not a wiki but a CMS. The site is happily running from an US server, hosted by our sponsor Dualnic. Check it out!
